My story
I’m Haya, a 38-year-old potter from Brussels, Belgium. Eight years ago, after my daughter was born, I got into ceramics and immediately fell in love with it. After many years in finance I had been looking for a new gig where I could apply soul and creativity. Early on I was fortunate to be mentored by the talented Veronique Bogaert who taught me wheel throwing technique. I kept practicing at night, learning from countless books and throwing videos. When hosting dinners for friends, I loved combining my ceramic creations with my other big passion - cooking. New recipes inspired my search for new shapes, and my famous rice dish was born! Then, somehow, my pots found their way into other people’s homes. Seeing how people appreciated my work was an incredible feeling and, from there, pottery became a lifelong journey for me. I set up a studio at home and practiced daily for a few years. Until this day: I am finally opening my shop. Every piece you see is thrown at the potter’s wheel (unless mentioned otherwise), trimmed and set to dry completely. Pots are then bisque-fired at 960 degrees Celsius and glazed. They go back to the kiln for a second slow firing at 1250 degrees then cool down for 24 hours. This slow process creates unique pieces, each telling its own story. Its story starts in my studio and continues in your home. |
